Day in the Life of a Quality Assurance Representative

I came on board as a YPC Media employee in April 2015 after a conference call with our CEO Michael Pavone, who has been a family friend for years. At the time Michael approached me, I was about a year out of college and unsure about where or how to get my professional start. I knew I had a tremendous knowledge of computer technology and a fascination with creative arts, and I knew I wanted to do something that people would appreciate and benefit long-term from. I wanted to be a “game-changer”, a thinker who could say a lot with a few subtle clicks, but I knew I had a pretty long way to go.


I imagine Mike knew that just as well. But for whatever reason, he was bent on trying to get me in just the same. I wasn’t sure if I was ready for such an elaborate job, but not wanting to have a silly argument about it, I agreed to meet him there April 13th. And from that day, my life would never be the same.


It didn’t take long for me to see I was surrounded by incredibly talented people who had practically put themselves through academic “boot camps” to be able to do the work they were doing. These were people who were up at least one whole level higher when it came to things like planning, re-strategizing, and even socializing. It was certainly a very unfamiliar territory. Early on, I naturally let my insecurities get the best of me, stuck to what I’d known (from prior experiences, or from what the company had explained to me). Time after time, though, I’ve seen people respond with amazing patience and compassion.


Many of my colleagues here have looked at me with smiles and described me as philosophical, funny, resourceful, caring, and maybe a few other positive things. But at times like now, I wonder if maybe they changed my life even more.
